Eirini Platsa, one of the founding members of the HBMA, has been selected to serve on a government committee in Greece tasked with overseeing the development of the first midwifery-led units (birth centres). This committee follows the initial advisory body that formulated the regulations for these units, of which both Eirini and HBMA’s Chair Zeni Koutsi were members. Eirini’s appointment reflects her expertise in policy making, quality assurance and clinical governance safeguarding public health to ensure that maternity establishments will achieve high standards of quality perinatal care.
